2014 Explorer, base model. Front blower fan stopped working, I removed the fan, connected it to 12v, fan ran fine. I replaced blower motor resistor, now the fan runs 1 to 10 minutes on high and shuts off. Once the fan stops, if I shut the fan off via the power button and wait a few minutes it will turn on, and shut off again after a time delay. When the fan is running the speed is adjustable via the speed control knob.

Need the defrost on the upcoming chilly mornings, any help on what to look for next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just curious as to why you replaced the resistor after saying it ran fine connected to a 12V source. Is it possible that the fan is overheating and causing the shutdown? I'm not even sure if it operates that way but that is sort of what it sounds like.

I will have to search if the fan has a thermal shutdown.
The front blower fan stopped working, everything I had read online was basically if the blower operated when connected to 12 volts, it was probably the fan blower resister.
Since replacement the fan does now start, however it stops after a short time, and that time varies between 1 - 10 minutes. Once the fan fails, if I shut it off via the power button wait a few minutes and turn it on it does restart and run for 1 to 10 minutes.
