2014 Explorer Base Rear Brakes

Hello everyone,

I am looking for help determining if the rear brakes on our 2014 Explorer Base are heavy duty pads or standard duty pads. I have seen the threads referencing that 2013 (mid year) switch all to heavy duty. This explorer does not have towing package or anything like that and since it is basic vehicle, I was wondering if it would still use standard duty.

As an aside, if I run the VIN on FordPartsGiant.com, it comes back as the explorer uses standard pads.

You can put whichever duty pads on you want but no need to stay with factory, OR switch until you need new pads. The switch was to a larger diameter rotor with the heavy duty being about 13.6" diameter rotor and the prior regular duty being about an inch smaller diameter.
