I just got my explorer a little over a month ago and about 2 weeks ago it started making a weird noise, kind of like a whining/whistling sound but it has a little bit of a grinding sound too. I don't really know how to describe it cause It sounds like its coming from the driver side near the steering column and it happens going into 4th gear and its louder than is quieter until it shifts into 5th gear, and when it shifts it kinda sounds like a blow off on a turbo. i have 3.5 non turbo and I'm not getting any codes and everything is running good, its just making this weird sound. Sorry that's not the best explanation, its just weird and i don't know how to really describe it right but someone who has had this issue will probably know what I'm talking about. It’s a really weird sound and I’ve never heard anything like it before (I work for a garage/towing company so I see a lot). Well I talked to our trans guy today and he said it definitely sounds like the trans is going and he’s gonna look at it more next week. I’m starting to regret buying this car thanks!

Sorry, not familiar with that issue and don't recall a similar complaint. Does it ever go away while driving?

it does it 95% of the time, i notice it more when the car is warmed up. When it does do it, it stops when you take your foot off the gas then starts back when you get back on the gas.
