2014 Sport Ordered

Johnny16, Per your details....did the dealer indeed sell your car?!

I'm supposed to be given another update by the dealership next week. I'd like to believe by then (10 days past the ETA) they have something more definitive to tell me.

Hi johnnybravo,

I just sent you some good news via PM; you might want to check out your inbox for my message. :)

Crystal

Well at least you get updates from your dealership. The only updates that I get are from Crystal. Thanks Crystal by the way! You have been a great help! I guess I will just wait.... impatiently.....

Got my Deposit back!!!! And no apology! Stay classy FORD!
I was a Ford customer (Escort, Mustang X 2, F-150, & focus) for life.

They lost my family’s and my business for life!

Johnny,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I certainly would have done the same. On that note, I seriously considered the 2014 Durango.

lukish,
My dealership has been great so far. I'll hold off final judgement till I receive the car - but so far so good.

Crystal,
Thanks for the updates as always.

I just received word that my sport that was ordered on July 1st and built on August 8th with an original ETA of August 30th, just had it's ETA pushed back to September 17th. I'm going to have this confirmed, but if true that is some total bollocks right there.

You're very welcome, lukish and johnnybravo! I'm glad that I could help. :)

I'm as frustrated as the rest of you.
7/2 - Ordered
7/22 VIN
8/3 - Window Sticker
8/10 - Build Date
8/12 - ETA at 8/25
8/20 - ETA changed to 8/28
8/27 - ETA changed to 9/7

Given the delivery requirements the manufacturers have for their supply chain vendors, I can't understand how this is seen as acceptable for the end customer.

I'll give them a bit of breathing room for being down in FL, but my dealer gets a transporter more than once a week. I can't believe that the delay is anything more than poor planning. I'll give them a call later and see if they BS me :) It's nice having details coming from the FordService guys; the dealers don't have a clue that we know more than them a lot of the time.

I agree that the dealers know less than we do. My dealer called me yesterday looking for information because he couldn't get any. This is the first ford that we have bought in a long time and not impressed so far.

My updates so far: Went to dealer last night to see if he could get any more information. (my build completion date was 8/11). No further information other than still waiting for shipment. I asked what the ETA was and he said the computer says "expired" with no further info. He said he would call the regional rep, but nothing has been forwarded to me (might have been saying that to get me out of the showroom as i was making a fuss ;) ). I just called the customer service number and the person said it is unusual to be longer than 10 days so she escalated the issue and gave me a dispute/issue claim id number (someone is supposed to call me by tomorrow night - that will probably expire too - LOL ).

Crystal has e-mailed someone higher up the chain as well. (I thank Crystal for being patient with all of the PM's going her way)

Nearby dealer (not mine) just got one in that was built on 8/20, but 2 are still not in with build dates on 8/9. (at least mine is not the only one in the area delayed..but still very annoyed with the lack of updated information) (If i got time this holiday weekend i may look at the Jeep and Acadia again to make sure this is what i want as my private cash offer will expire)

The worst part is that I sold my Tahoe 2 weeks ago in anticipation of the EX...I am driving a friends '02ish Cavalier while i wait:mad:

Crystal thank you for the update! My ETA is 8/30

Dodge hooked me up with 2750 off with employee discount and extended warranty that sealed the deal for me!!!

I don't understand my build date was 8/8 and it take 22 days to deliver. (That's if comes on 8/30 !)

My car left the plant in Chicago on 8/24 (finally!). The dealership has indicated the car may be here by the end of this week, possibly mid next week. Guess it is time to order the HID lights.

Finally!!! Some answers. I found out today that my EX is on a factory hold as it is still missing some electronic components. It may take another couple days to a week to get it done but I can expect a phone call mid week next week with an eta of when it's being shipped to the dealer.

I got a call from the regional Ford rep. My EX is confirmed done (on 8/12) with no factory or quality hold. Just waiting Delivery :( The situation is supposed to be looked into further.

And I got a call from my dealer. Here the story was also a delay due to parts needed, specifically for the tow package. It is currently on a train in Illinois waiting for a full load and the ETA is the week of Sept 13th. There was no quality check hold, or anything else to delay it, according to the dealer, simply a lack of parts...

Huh.

Just given a new ETA by Crystal for 9/2. Hope it makes it then.

I ordered my Sport July 18th, 2013. and was told up front 6-8 wks delivery. Fine.
A few weeks ago I got my VIN and a date for build as the first week in September (next week) and an ETA to dealer (in Canada) mid Sept, Sept 20th to be more precise.
Seems a lot of you other guys are in the same boat waiting.
Basically, they don't just tuck in the odd Sport on the regular assembly line amongst all the other trim Explorers. I think because the sport has more assembly processes because of the engine and other unique features they like to build them in batches to ensure better quality control. When operators work on 200 regular Explorers and then a sport comes along every couple hours or so it opens the door for mistakes and plus adds logistical difficulty in feeding the different parts "just in time" to the stations.
Come next week they'll have about 6 weeks or more of "Sport" orders and basically set the line to build nothing but sports all week long ensuring repetitiveness and quality.
