2016 Ford Explorer XLT
I have a 2016 Ford Explorer XLT with 2.3L Ecoboost engine. My AC stopped working last month and I took it to a shop they tested for leaks and found none. They replaced my ac compressor. They tested my ac pressure switch and said it was fine. Ac worked great for a month and then suddenly got hot again. I checked the fuses and relays and they are fine. The compressor is not turning on so I keep reading that the pressure switch might be bad. I have spent over a week watching videos and searching the web for any diagram showing where the pressure switch is located. 8 even bought the Haynes Ford Explorer repair manual for 2011 to 2017 models and my engine does not match what is shown in the manual. Does the fact I have front and rear climate control change the location of the switch? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

You won't find one.... The Explorer hasn't had an A/C pressure switch for quite a few years. 2010 was the last model year that used one.

So what monitors the pressure?

The 3-wire pressure sensor in the high side refrigerant line monitors pressure in that line. Evaporator temperature is monitored by a temperature sensor mounted into the evaporator core. Everything is monitored and controlled by the PCM.

Completely different scheme than the old-style switch setup.

If you want to learn how to diagnose the system, head over to utube and watch the A/C diagnostic videos by Fordtechmakuloco.

Well thanks for the info. I will watch those videos for sure.
