2016 Platinum Late Production?

Just took delivery of my Platinum today. All the hype has been deserved. Ceramic seats and interior are sweet. Wife especially impressed with seat Massage feature.

Did u test drive a sport ... If so do u notice a difference between the 2?

Difference is in the AWD, EPAS, PTU, and Transmission programming.

Suspension hardware is different as well, sits lower too.

Sorry, didn't test out a Sport. Upgraded from a 2013 LTD to the Platinum. Love the extra ponies from the EcoBoost!

Or take out a $20 Elite membership and you can use the 'Manage Attachments' program to load directly from your computer AND help to support this site. Many photos linked from a 3rd party site seem to disappear after a while.

Somehow I am illiterate to get multi-quote working but I will reply to this. Peter's comments should be included with this.

Thanks for the video however this is a 2013 video explaining the sport and the differences however if you compare a 2016 Sport to the 2016 Platinum they appear to be identical. Ex: The Sport has 20" x 8.5" wheels (appears to have changed from what was explained in the video at 20" x 9") and so does the Platinum. Height of the Sport is 70" and so is the Platinum. This is why I ask as I cannot see a difference between the two.

I am new to the Explorer but not new to Ford so I am sure I am mistaken.

For you it's probably best to drive both and "feel" the differences yourself as we all see and feel different things.

Maybe comparing part numbers for some of the suspension items would be a good way to determine differences.

I do know the front strut tower cross brace is bigger, thicker and 30% stiffer on the Sport.

The suspension is set up differently.

The AWD programming in the Sport allows for up to a 50/50 Power transfer to front and back wheels which you don't get on Base, XLT, and Limited. I have not seen set up software for Platinum yet.

I will continue to use my engineering contacts to determine specific differences.
