Platinum Ordered!
I am so excited!! We have a 2015 XLT in White Platinum that I just love, then they came out with the Platinum model in 2016. We went to the dealer this weekend and told them to order. They sent me a note today that they were able to order and Ford picked it up within a half hour which is good.
However, orders are usually 6 - 8 weeks and with the demand for these, I am not optimistic for early delivery. What are the current times from order to delivery? Is there any where online I can go to track it?
Anything worth having is always worth waiting for, but crossing my fingers Ford is kicking these bad boys out quick!

Something to do while waiting
For those of us who are waiting for our Platinums to be built and delivered, I thought I'd share a link to short but informative article about Ford's Chicago Assembly Plant where all Explorers are born. This article appeared in a law-enforcement journal, but most of it is about the Chicago Assembly Plant:
http://www.hendonpub.com/resources/article_archive/results/details?id=1271
In addition, if you're interested in a bird's eye view of the Chicago Assembly Plant, go to Google Maps and search for 12600 S Torrence Ave., Chicago, IL. Click on the satellite-view icon in the lower-left corner to see the plant, then look just a little south and on the other side of Torrence Ave. to see the huge lot of Explorers awaiting shipment. You can even see the Autorack railcars and the railroad tracks that will take them away.

This dealer must be crazy high up on the allocation list, this is the second Platinum Explorer they have shown:
White Platinum Explorer

Bronze Fire Platinum Explorer

I read months ago they were not going to have the Blue Oval but for the first time a Platinum one. Guess they changed their mind????

It's a riot, I checked my Vin# at VinCheckpro.com and it came back on a recall list. Also I checked it on Carfax. Both show a 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum. Pretty funny I thought.

Biked to the dealer today and drove home in my ruby red platinum! Was'nt sure I wanted to put bike in back. Thanks Tricia. For updates.
Ordered July 6, but salesman substituted my color (only option) for one dealership had already entered but unassigned, so essentially, mine was ordered earlier.
Thanks all for info.

Please check your inbox when you get a chance, deant.Tricia, now that I have a #vin , how long does it take to get a window sticker?...t
You can expect to see the window sticker about a week before your build date as an estimate.
Let me know if you need anything else!

Having an impossible time trying to find a Platinum to test drive anywhere in the state of Texas. I refuse to buy a vehicle without driving one first so this is proving to be quite frustrating.

I felt the same, but I test drove a Sport and had to force myself not buy that on the spot and instead wait for a Platinum.

Understood, but I would be shocked if they were so different that it made any difference to me. I'm upgrading from a '99 Honda Accord, so just the fact that the Explorer has buttons on the steering wheel is like magic
