I was told my build date would be week of 7/25. Couldn't wait - cancelled order and picked up my new Platinum yesterday - $400 under invoice + $750 Ford rebate.

No, 2017. I am simple about colors like Henry Ford - any color you want as long as it is black - every car for 30 years.

I'm envious you had a platinum on the lot. My dealer had many xlt but no platinums on order.

Actually the dealer (Walnut Creek Ford) has several Platinum's on lot/ordered - I just did a search of Norther California Ford dealers and found what I wanted - made a deal before they received it - pretty easy.

I just exhausted all the dealers within 50 miles and no magnetic platinum on order or stock. Only able to find 2 platinums out of 75 plus available. White and red. The wait goes on...

Yup, but my wife especially is. The explorer is for her. I used to own a '06 Eddie Bauer though, amazing how much more refined these explorers are now.

I would think "orders" would take precedence over lot stock.
I ordered this thing the day Ford started accepting 17' explorer orders. There are a bunch of stock 17's on the lots around here, but yet, we wait.
Go figure...

They got yours sold...... They got to put some on the lot to sell more.......hell mine is paid for and I'm still waiting.... That was my mistake... I should have put 1.00 down with balance on delivery..........

Jeep prioritizes sold customer orders before dealer inventory.
Our 16' Wrangler unlimited was the first 16' our dealer received last fall.
THAT, was nice..

I think the problem lies with Ford, and not your dealer.
Paying for it beforehand doesn't change a thing. I traded in my Ford Super Duty for this Explorer, and they owe me money. We still have to get in line and wait.

Dealers go through millions of dollars of inventory every year, so the few bucks we spend doesn't buy order privilege. Try ordering a Super Duty some time. My first one back in 1998 took 22 weeks.. They still take about 12 weeks+ after job start up..

I'm surprised they can even charge you or complete the deal until they receive an official invoice from Ford.

I doubt the dealer can complete the deal before the owner takes possession since there are certain documents the owner must sign upon accepting the vehicle and the VIN has to be entered on the final documents. When I ordered my 2011 Limited the preliminary Lease Agreement was signed December 17, 2010 but the final contract was signed March 14,2011 when I took possession.

Per OASIS my 2017 was built yesterday.

mine was built around the same time- rec'd it last week! I ordered back in april, just after 2016 orders were cut off.
