Some data points I HAVE as built data for both vehicles with part numbers saved on forscan. I only have one wiring harness at this point, with parts of the other one. I swapped out the main wiring harness, intelligent access button, HVAC, heated steering wheel controller, APIM, Wifi antenna, sync voice module, antenna wiring radio/satellite, auto lights, sun sensor, hood sensor the wiring harness and one intelligent access receiver from the center console, from my 18 XLT (I rolled it) into my 2018 PIU. My question is can I reprogram the bcm in my 2018 PIU to accept intelligent access? Right now the start button lights up green when the brake is applied, but accessory mode won't work. I read you can short pins on the bcm to make changes to the BCM. If i can't whats the bare minimum I would need to buy to get it to work? Would it be better to just wire the PIU ignition into the XLT harness. Any advice on how to over come this? buying another harness isn't in my playbook. Can't buy another vehicle this is the problem I have to solve. I no longer have access to the 18 XLT. Just its saved data and parts I was able to get.

I have taken pictures of the big parts of this project and when I have a working car I will post a detailed overview of everything. it has to be possible to just make the push button start work as if there is a key in the ignition. I don't really care if I have to bypass security I just want the car to start and go and for the radio/sync wifi hotspot to work. and right now it seems everything works. most of the wiring is the same. might see if I can't get AI to reprogram or decode the BCM who knows. at this point it almost seems simpler to make my own wiring harness with black jack and hookers.

In the past week I got the original BCM, GWM, steering column, SWCM, Steering wheel, center console, floor shifter, all terrain control module and IPC. I reset the 18XLT RTM and was able to reduce the DTCS from 60 to about 16 accessory mode works now as do the 18 XLT keys. had a friend lend me a battery charger, hoping the now low voltage is the reason the IPC and the ACM are not currently communicating, no volume but the APIM works. I wasn't able to find the 4G modem in the 2018 XLT also known as the telematic control module (TCU). From what I read both vehicles are running CGEA 1.3 so everything should work after I reprogram the IPC, ABS, and PCM for PATS. I made a big oof by not saving as built data on the PCM and ABS. If anyone can help with that data for a 2018 PIU that would be swell.

OK so I ended up swapping out the wiring harnesses for the interior, doors, engine bay as well as swapped the ICP for the platinum version. Did a module reset and that seemed to get everything working properly for the most part don't have the rear hatch harness yet or the rear key sensor. but the locks and door sensors and keypad all work properly. The only problem I'm having is I'm still getting DTC P161A:00-2F incorrect response from immobilizer control module. The radio works too now as well as the 4G hotspot and Telematic control device. Will need new seats eventually but from what I hear they will still operate just in reverse of normal. In the future I plan on adding the adjustable pedals back. But right now I have to reprogram the PCM. Figure out how to recode the PCM to work with the 6F55 transmission the part numbers are the same for BCM and PCM on this model year so it should only be a matter of recoding all the modules to work in conjunction with each other. Anyone know of anyone capable of doing this. I also added the steering column, its control module as well as the center console and floor shift/ cable to the PIU. not sure if select shift will work with the PIUs 6F55 transmission as the transmission in the donor vehicle was a select shift capable 6F50. all the electronics should be able to work in conjunction with each other I just need the PCM to be configured to bridge the gap. My last resort is going to be finding as built data for an XLT with the 3.5 and tow package and fleshing that. Then deleting pats with a HP tuners MPIV3 device. I know people put engines and transmissions from the PIU in XLTS all the time so I can't see how this would be any different as its now equipped with almost all of the XLT stuff.

I may be able to help with the piu as built data

I may be able to help with the piu as built data
right now it seems if I can get the as built data from a PCM running the 3.5 with select shift and a 6F55 as well as the heavy duty ABS module, final drive ratio of: 3.65, I will be good to go. With some possible minor changes after the fact. I looked at the transmission control module and both parts listed according to fords website will work in either vehicle. So it should work if select shift is coded into the PCM. One thing I will have to recode is the AC compressor type. The 18 PIU is single zone I'm pretty sure that the pcm has a bit that will need to be recoded post reflash, if all that makes sense.

Ok here’s what i can do i can send you the as built data from my 2017 xlt 3.5 4wd 3.65 explorer . I also have the as built data from my 2018 3.7 PIU i used to drive at the fire dept

that will help a lot

I got it running a week ago. Have an airbag light due too the front seats not being the heated seats as the airbag is different. Plan to add adaptive cruise as the new engine bay wiring harness has provisions for it. Used a PCM from BCM and key from a 2018 flex fuel explorer to get it running. Planning to add flex fuel capability in the future. The ford pass app was working under the old vin but It doesn't recognize the TCM at the moment as the VIN is different. Have about 400 miles driven so far no issues, averaging about 20-23 miles per gallon running 93 and 0W-20 Pennzoil platinum. Added rear speakers, a line output converter, amp and subs. The audio quality is much better. The tire pressure monitoring works still, select shift adds a bit of fun to the driving experience. Overall I'm pretty happy with the results. The intelligent access door handles, remote start and heated steering wheel are really nice to have. Still have to add the rear gate module and wiring for the microphone. But it's solid so far and it will be nice to have flex fuel capability in the future should be pretty capable with a tune, E30 and some ported intake manifolds.
