2018 Ford Explorer sport
Hello all! I am a long time lurker...first time poster. My name is Brian and I have a 2018 explorer sport. I was thinking of getting a cat-back exhaust but decided against it for now due to cost. I was thinking of putting some nice black corsa tips on my stock exhaust though. I found some real nice ones that I like. However, what size inlet would I need? Would the below fit?

  • 2.5" Inlet, 4" Outlet, 8.3" Length
Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Brian

Welcome to the Forum Brian.
I don't believe anyone has done this yet.

Thank you Peter! I appreciate the welcome!

I just have to figure out what the inlet size for the stock pipes are. I believe they are 2.25 so would my installer have to finagle the tips on if they are a 2.5 inlet? I like the quiet sound of the stock sport exhaust but not loving the polished quad tips...thanks!!

Beautiful Drudis! Nice ride!! Im in Michigan too! Rochester Hills area. How about you? I just ordered some gloss black Corsa tips with a 2.5” inlet and 4” outlet. My installer may have to finagle them to fit but we will see...know any good exhaust shops around? Excited to have them installed. Thanks for the pictures. Looks amazing!!

Fish, you have to remember that drudis' vehicle is a 17, and you have an 18.

The 17 has the trim valence that makes up the "faux" exhaust tip, while the 18 does not. The 18 comes stock with quad tips, so a single tip may not fill up the opening to your liking. The opening on the lower bumper for the quad tips is much larger than the opening for the single rectangular faux tip on the 17. Food for thought.

Although this is a picture of my '17 Platinum, the Sport was very similar in regards to the OEM setup.

San~Man...I never thought of that. Thanks for the heads up. I may have to cancel my order and research more to find a tip that would fit the opening better. Thanks everyone!

Brian - I actually just had a cat back system installed by a local shop here in Portland, this may help you out -
The stock pipe was 2.1" internally, so an exterior measure of 2.25" is probably about right. We slightly enlarged the pipe to 2.50", then used a 2.5" inlet w/ dual 3.5 polished stainless outlets, per side. So, it's a quad look in polished stainless about 1/2 per outlet larger than the stock chrome plated tips. It fit just fine with a bit to spare. 4" singles per side will fit easily, with room to spare.
