Quick Question

Is there any way to adjust when the battery will be used vs. the engine.

Thanks
Ken

I run in Eco mode all the time and have a pretty light foot, the best I've seen is about 30% battery miles for in town driving. One thing I noticed is you have to lift off the throttle and start slowing down before the engine shuts off, but if you are *very* gentle you can get up to 40 mph for while.

As far as I know Eco mode is the only setting, but I admit I haven't done a ton of research since I got my Explorer a year ago.

Nope there’s no way to do that...the hybrid focus isn’t fuel economy.

I thought that was what hybrids were all about.

Agreed, hybrids were developed to give increased gas mileage by utilizing a supplemental electric motor.
FYI Ford calls the Explorer a performance hybrid...and it was tuned to deliver more torque and towing NOT fuel economy...

you can see that by matching up the numbers of the hybrid and the 2.3T but it becomes clear when you compare to a hybrid designed to save gas - its mpg can’t hold a candle to the Highlander hybrid (its main competitor rated at 36mpg)
