255/75/17 on a 98 v8 Mountaineer

stock tire size is 235/75/15. i was offered a GREAT deal on a set of used 255/75/17's. tirerack info says these tires can fit on a rim between 6.5 and 8.5"
i was thinking of going with a 17" rim anyway so...

cragar soft 8's, 17x8, 4.5" backspacing, 0.00mm offset

these are a 32" tire and i currently have a 3" BL (which, per the chart, i'm good for that size)

i'm just a super noob with backspacing and offset

can someone help me out with this?

ok, so according to the wheel offset calculator found here
http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html

i'll be going from a 7" wide rim with a 0 offset (stock)
to an 8" wide rim with a 0 offset which means the rim will stick out 1/2 inch farther and also be 1/2 inch closer on the inside

will that work?

there is no offset option for the Cragar soft 8's in a 17" wheel
the 15's have all sorts of options.. .this is crap

i'm getting FOUR tires for $100.. i figured this would be a great deal.

annybody have any input on this situation?

well.. the 18" mustang rims i was using were a 44mm offset, 6.23" backspacing, 8" wide rim

the 17" cragar soft 8's are
8" wide
4.5" backspacing
means thats a 0mm offset

i think these will work. i'm going to measure what i have on my truck now to see what those specs are
