i was wondering if anyone can confirm what i about to.
Right now i am having my 5r55e 2wd transmission rebuilt. while this is being done i thought what better time then now to swap out the 2wd output shaft and put in a 4wd output shaft so then all i would have to do is get a transfer case adapter and a tranfer case and just bolt everything on.

1.what i need to know is will a 92 Ford Explorer Warner 1354 Electric Shift Transfer Case work in this situation?
2. if the transfer case is compatible would i be able to drive my ex if i just bolt it on and not hook it up at all?wireing etc.....
3. also does the tcase have to work at all,as far as the sift motor working or any wiering, for me to still drive my ex with it on?

the reason i am asking if the tc needs to be hook up and work is because i actually plan on getting a manual tc but have came upon this tc at a really good price and since i am getting my tranny worked on would like to go ahead and convert to 4wd and just put in the electric tcase for now so when i get a manual tcase all i would have to do is bolt it right in. i hope this make some sense.
thanks
mando

ok looks like i have found the 4wd output shaft for my explorer. would anybody know what these output shaft are suppose to run . the peolpe at ford said it would be $45.88. i thought it would be a lot more than that.

would anybody happen to know the part# to the transfer case adaptor that bolts between the transmission and the transfer case?

also do i need the transfer case adaptor from a 92 explorer (to match the 1354 transfer case i plan to get ) or should i get one to match my 99 5r55e 2wd transmission that i have in my explorer?

or will any year 4x4 explorer transfer case adaptor work in this situation?

once again thanks for the help

I can't answer your questions, but Jesus Christ that thing is huge!

you would want the manual shift 1354 and if you want electric you want the 4405 (I think)

all yuo need is the 4wd output shaft on your tranny, transfer case and driveshafts

thanks fot the reply boominXplorer. i just dropped off the output shaft with the guy who is fixing my tranny. sounds real easy. i allready have a transfer case on the way.so all i have to do know is find a transfer case adaptor. u wouldnt happen to know someone who has one for sale do you.

thanks
