I'm wanting to switch my Explorer Sport from 2WD to 4WD and i was wondering what the cost might be and what i would have to do.

as far as I know you need a 4x4 rear & front driveshaft, transfer case, front axle, front axle spindles, shocks, springs, all the wiring and all the brackets.

I'm switching from 4wd to 2wd and i'll have front axle, spindles, shocks, springs that I can exchange straight accross for your 2wd spindles, beams, and radius arms. this will lower the expensive parts you'll need. let me know. -tristan 818-679-1030

818, I'm also converting an Explorer to 4wd. If you're interested in swapping some parts, I'm located in SoCal. A little closer than GA, LOL. PM me if you're interested.

You'll also need a 4wd transmission.

You need new bearings and rotor assemblys on each side. You do not need new springs or shocks as they are same 2wd to 4wd.

I'm not sure that a 2WD frame has the brackets for the front axle. Section525 swapped the whole frame.

There is a way to do it. Members have done 2wd to 4wd swaps.
