So i have the choice between 3 JL 10"s or 2 Kicker Comp 12"s. I guess i could wait and here them both but what are your guys thoughts/opinions?

*edit*- also i can still use my stock HU for this right, i was told dont worry about a new HU until i get new component speakers.

Are you going for quality or spl? My friend has 2 JL 10" w0's and they sound very nice and hit pretty darn hard. My preference would be JL over kicker, especially the comp's. I don't much like them, but thats just me. I do like JL. Look at infinity while you are at it. I just got my kappa perfects in and they blow the JL's (not to mention my old sony's :)) out of the water.

Oh, and you will have a very hard time with this with the stock hu. If your amp has speaker level inputs then its possible, but otherwise its a lot of trouble.

o, well can you define a lot of trouble, or link me somewhere, because i was trying to avoid a new HU but if it will make everything that much better then i will.

Your not going to be able to do a system like you are planning without a new HU. You need the Preouts on the new HU, because there are no preouts on the stock HU. I know there are ways to wire up a subwoofer to the stock HU but you wont get very good results. Go to Crutchfield and get a nice Pioneer or Panasonic that has atleast Dual Preouts. You system will suffer if you stay with your Stock HU. Everybody is/will tell you that.

ok sweet, i like that and its a good price too, but what installation accesories are you talking about? And whats the best place to go for a wiring kit, ebay?

Also how do i know what factory system i have. Im not sure if its premium or MACH or whatever, but it has the amp with the 8 inch sub, if that helps at all?

You have the premium system. You dont need to get a wiring kit, that would be included under "Installation accesory". Just order the Thing and everything will be taken care of for you.

ok, thanks a lot man, ill let you know how it turns out

also whats the difference between premium and MACH, just to know

With the stock hu you could just run wires from the speaker wires going to your doors to the line level inputs on the amp, but it would sound bad and you could not have as much control. It would also be hard to send a turn on signal to the amp, very hard. You will be much much happier with that pioneer. Good luck.

im gettin that pioneer, but when i went to checkout it recommended this...
OEM Amplifier Integration v.4
95-up Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda/Nissan
Lets you integrate a high-powered aftermarket receiver into select 1995-up Fords and other vehicles with premium factory systems • compatible with high-power receivers

im bybassing my stock amp right...so i dont need that?

correct, bypass that thing, the one built into the pioneer is much better

If I am not mistaken, that harness you indicated will cost like 50 bucks or something, but if you add the pioneer to your cart (with your vehicle selected) then it will put the correct harness and kit in there to with no charge, with radio removal tools as well :)

good choice on the pioneer

lata

yep exactly, you guys here rock, thanks a million

WHAT? I havent gotten a single check!! Thats crap. Have fun Installing, you might need a little help from somebody that knows what they are doing, Lord knows I did. If you run into any problems, go to a audio shop or a Circuit City in town and have them help. They usually will do it for free because its usually something that takes ten minutes and doesnt require you to buy anything else. Good Luck.

Isnt he going to need an amp wiring kit for the subs. The HU cant push those. If he's going to run at least 400 watts he will probably need at least an 8GA kit. I have a 4GA kit on mine, made by stinger.

sorry didnt remember they were 3 JLs. He will definitely will have to get 4GA for the power that will be needed to push those.

Yea i thought i needed an amp wiring kit, im going with the kickers because im selling the JLs to a friend. Also another friend recommened 4 gauge wire, does it matter if you go to big or small, like what would be the result?

I had too small of a power and ground wire for my Beretta and it made the lights dim when i was at a stop light and prematurely screwed up the alternator. I put in higher guage wire and didnt have either problem again. Also the small wires could heat up from the amount of power going through them and burn through the coating....which could lead to a fire.
