I posted this in the 3rd Gen forum but no luck. I am looking to install lower ratio gears in my X, 3.73 or 4.10. I have rebuilt many axles, but never any in the new gen X. The rear third member looks like the old 8.8 solid axle from the outside. Does anyone know if 8.8 & D35 gears and master rebuild kit will work? And also, is the front still a D35 or did that change too with the 3rd gen?

I got a hold of a ford shop manual. The rear of the 3rd gen is an 8.8. And the front is a Dana 30. I will post pictures of the manual.

The master kit for any 8.8 will work but they won't include axle bearings/seals for the IRS unless it's specifically labeled an IRS master. All other 8.8 stuff stays the same.

Well it's an 8.8 but it wouldn't bolt up or anything but why?
