Hi all, I'm new to the forum so apologies if I've posted this is the wrong area.

I have a 99 Explorer sport 4.0 v6 and I want to swap from stock exhaust to a flowmaster 40 after seeing some videos of other users explorers with the same setup. I was wondering how much of a difference it would make to keep the stock piping or go to a 2.5" throughout. I'm not looking for any gas mileage improvements (although I wouldnt mind slight hp gains), I am looking for a low rumble... What would you recommend? keep the stock piping or change it to 2.5" or ____" ?

thanks

hey jonny

i got single in and dual out 40 series flowmasters on my 01 sport. I love how it sounds it sounds loud and deep. Previous owners of my sport had the 70 series flowmasters on my sport and it sounded to quiet. Once i put the 40 series on it big difference in sound.

are u looking to put single flowmasters or single in and dual out or what. I am saving up to get true dual.

My tips are 2 1/2 inch tips.

Well, I'm actually open to suggestions... I was thinking single in dual out, but I really have nothing to compare to... I wanted to keep the stock piping but I'm not sure if its worth the cost of going to true dual. Does the jump to true dual make a huge difference in sound (and is it worth the cost)?

it was $590 for single in and dual out 40 series flowmasters

i got a quote for like $730 for true dual.

by the way i am in southern cali. It might different prices where ur at.
