back story; I bought a "good condition" 4.0 sohc for my off road race truck project.
well as luck would have it i found timing chain guide parts in my oil pan (typical) so now im doing timing chains.
all the guides appear to be in great shape! the problem child is the lower guide for the balance shaft chain. its in about 6 pieces on my work bench.

so basically i have 3 questions.

1. all guides look amazing. would it be dumb to ONLY change the balance shaft guide and tensioner?

2. i understand they put the balance shaft in for 4wd model possible vibrations. well, my trucks a 2wd and an offroad racer so vibrations are a plenty. is its important to reinstall a balance shaft in a balance shaft engine? or can i get rid of it to eliminate the possibility of at-least this set of guides failing?

3. aside from genuine ford parts, whats the next best brand of timing set to buy?

BONUS

4. the devil on my shoulder wants me to have a 6 pack of sport sodas, unbolt the balance shaft, cut its chain off and seal the motor back up :sawzall:
