4.0 SOHC to 5.0 swap

Hey everyone!

I mostly just creep here, been gone for a while since my SOHC Ex died almost 2 years ago....

Looking to drop a 5.0 from another Ex in. I know there must be a guide somewhere on this site but the search is giving me nothing but errors.

Could someone point me towards a guide, related thread or just let me know what I will need to swap. Hoping not to swap the Tcase if I don't have to....

This should be super helpful. I am now looking at a 5.0 from a 96 F-150 and I am told that it should bolt straight up to my 5R55E.

you may want to reconsider that. the explorers front dress is about a haft inch shorter, and also you would have to change the balancer as well. then with that also said, a explorer is a 50oz motor and a regular 5L is a 28oz motor

oh, and a 5r55e will not bolt to a 5L. your best bet and to make your life so much easier is to find a donor the same year as yours
