will the engine out of a 4x4 work in a 2x4 I bought a 97 4x4 and 98 2x4 for 600$ the tranny is bad and body horrible on the 97 but the engine runs like a top the engine is bad in the 98 I have read that the 4x4 engine has an extra balance shaft will this effect anything?

do the engines look the same ?

if so, they should swap,,

put up pics of both,,

If youre pulling from a 4door then the driveshaft will more than likely need to be fixed

yes the engine will fit, you might need to change a few brackets, also the 4x4 motor has a balance shaft and the 2 wheel doesnt.

97 and 98 electronics are different. Not sure if some connections may be different. The 4x4 vs 4x2 thing should not matter.

I'm doing the opposite. 4x2 motor into a 4x4.
