Did Ford put factory 4.10 gears in 91-94 Explorers? How about 95 or 96? I know many people with newer X's have 4.10s but when did that start? I believe the axle codes would either be 45 for 4.10 open or D2 for 4.10 limited slip.

Thanks for the help!

In my '95 manuel it says D4 is the 4.10LS.

The link is all garbled up. Could you re-post it?

So did Ford start offering the 4.10's in 95? Does anyone have a 95 or 96 with axle code D2? From searching posts, it seems like the D2 was part of the towing package...

Yep! Ford introduced the 4.10 differential in '95. My '96 has 4.10 LSD. D2 is part of a towing package but here's the thing, they didn't include a tranny cooler.

It appears to me that on the 01 Sport the only gears offered is the 3.73 , at least I didn't find any other ratios when I was looking for a used one. (so I bought a 2000 with a 4.10)
