4 auto and 4hI, but no 4 low?

For some reason, whenever I turn the 4wd selector to 4low nothing seems to happen. No light on the dash, no clunk of engagement, nothing. My 4auto and 4hi work just fine. Do you think this is a transfer case shift motor issue? Or perhaps something else?

did you do the procedure correctly

foot on brake,put trans in nuetral, switch the switch , wait for it to engage ,, than put in gear ?

if not, it will not go into 4low,

If you did the correct procedure to put it in 4low then it sounds like you need a new transfer case shift motor. A common problem.

Yep I did the procedure correctly it just doesn't seem to do anything. I've had the truck for about 9 months now and I know it used to go into 4low, just nothing anymore. Is rebuilding the shift motor fairly easy? I figure there probably isn't much to it.

Here's a thread about rebuilding it. But it's easier and probably not much more expensive to just get a new one.
