Most of us either get them from someone who has upgraded to Lift Springs or Junk Yards. Unless you want to pay Top Dollar and get them from FORD.

I bought a set of spring packs for my 97 Sport from Ford. They are the variable rate spring packs for the 2001-2002 Sports. Cost was about $120 for the set. Just have to get time to put them on. Also got the traction bars for the V-8 model. Remember, new is better than used.

I used www.junkyarddog.com to search for mine. I got about 8 contacts and picked the best one. Good luck!

Do you remember the part numbers for the leafs and the traction bars ?

I have them in my garage. I'll get the numbers for the springs, traction bars and front traction bar brackets. I'll post them tomorrow night. Anslo note that the axle brackets have to be made as the factory ones are welded onto the axle tube.

Can you explain more about the the axle brackets I am a little lost here ?
If the factory ones are welded to the axle then why can't you just reuse them ?

Thanks for the help

Ace, you do not need Axle brackets, You would only need them if you were doing a Spring over axle conversion.

EDIT: I was wrong, I miss read what was said before. He does need the brackets.

Unless you have a V-8(which you'd already have the traction bars), you DO need brackets on the axle for the factory traction bars to bolt to. The V-8's are the only Explorers that came with the traction bars. The brackets on the axle that the traction bar bolts to is welded on at the factory. Since the V-6 models Explorers do not come with traction bars, they do not have these brackets.

Traction Bars: F67Z-4A479-AA (2ea)

The frame brackets come in 2 pieces per side. They are as follows.

Inner piece: F67Z-5D493-AA (2ea)
Left & Right side outer pieces: F67Z-4A218-AA (1ea)
F67Z-4A218-BA (1ea)

I can't find my receipt for the springs, however the tag on the springs show the following part number: 1L2Z-5560-AA

Package of 4 bolts for the traction bars has a part number of: W701865-S426.

Hope this all helps...

Does anyone know if you can buy replacement bushings for the traction bars (F67Z-4A479-AA)?

If you want to just stick to leaf springs, you can get a set of new 91-94 ex springs and pick up an extra 250 lbs load weight over stock 95-01 4 leaf spring. Try not to go to used or from Ford new. There are several companies making replacement springs without having to pay OEM prices and ford counterman saying you cann't put those in that model.

If you want a little lift out of them you can go with a pair of I-beam F-150 spings. The measurement from spring hanger to center pin on axle measures the same as Explorers and the arc of the spring is noticeably greater.
