I finished installing my 4" Superlift w/extended radius arms and noticed that my front passenger tire extends ~2 inches further out than the driver side tire (verified at the hub). Has anyone experienced this?

The new axle pivot brackets are bolted on using factory rivet holes so there's no adjustment available for either side. Even if I could adjust it inward it would hit the differential when compressed.

I called Superlift and was told that my passenger side axle must be slipping out of the housing (what a stupid answer). As if I wouldn't notice something like this after installing a complete lift kit.

BTW, I've read great things about Four Wheel Parts Wholesale but the one here in north Houston SUCKS! I won't even post their suggestions (stupid x10).

Sorry for the rant but as is I can't align my front end. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

I know this is a simple question, but have you had your truck aligned yet? I just finished my 5.5" lift yesterday and the alignment is so off that the front tires squeak a little when I turn.

No, the front is not align-able like this.

My passenger side sticks out quite a bit more then the drivers side also. I have never accually measured it but I just know it does from looing down on it. I normally don't get alignments but the few I have gotten they usually can get everything lined up correctly.

rpenner54,

Is this normal?

My stupidlift makes the L side stick more. I get more rub on the drivers side than passenger.

My right side front wheel sticks out 1/2 inch more than the other side. Go figure......

Mine sits dead even on both sides as far as sticking out from the sides. Now the left side sits back about 1/2" farther than the right measuring from the center of hub to hub.
I don't know what could be wrong. Either the brackets are off(drilled wrong) or backwards or are the wrong ones. That just seems really odd. If you can take some pics, show them here or send to superlift to see if you can get it right. Good luck.

I have no idea if this is normal or not. I just noticed it one day. It does not really bother me all that much either. I really have never had a problem with it.

Well, I talked to a guy named Dave at Superlift who said this is NOT normal. He says both tires should stick out the same distance. Now I'm awaiting a call from the guy that developed the universal (4" & 5.5") axle pivot brackets to see what can be done. I'll keep y'all informed...

CHH777, I just finished installing a 5.5" Superunner kit on the front end of my 91 and have the same dilemma. However, even stock my passenger side tire stuck out noticeably further than the driver side. Although itlooks dumb, I don't think it is causing any problems other than visual.
However, my problem is with the slipjoint in the passenger side front axle. At almost any compression or extension on either the driver or passenger TTB, the slipjoint gets fully "compressed" and stops suspension movement and axle shaft rotation.
Anyone with any kind of lift experiencing the same problem as this, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

I have seen this on stock Height Explorers too. For Example our 91 XLt 2wd is like this and the alignment is fine. My Navajo was like this too. But After I converted it to 4x4 both wheels stick out about the same now.

Fixed at last!

Superlift re-designed the drop bracket for the driver side TTB (as someone has already mentioned). I got mine last Friday and installed it Saturday. The TTB moved over ~2" which is nearly equal to the passenger side TTB, so this should make the truck align-able.

I also had a problem with the truck swaying back and forth violently at highway speeds (even with the swaybar installed and the RS9000s at setting 5). This problem is gone now.

Do new aexl pivot brakets come standard with the Superlift 5.5? I just got mine installed, but no new brackets. I have the same tire issue...passenger tire is out over an inch.

Would it be possible to post a pic of the new bracket? I am curious how it looks. I happen to have an extra bracket for that side that Superlift sent me so I wouldn't mind comparing.

ScottXXL,

I don't know if Superlift includes this new bracket in the lift kits yet or not. Unless your kit is brand new I highly doubt you got the new one.

rpenner54,

The new bracket looks almost identical to the old one so a picture wouldn't help. I had to line then up to tell the difference.

I'll post the new part number so you both can see what you've got.

I just bought a Skyjacker and had no problem at all :)
Just bringing light humor into it

Part #s

Here's the TTB bracket part numbers:

Old: 55-01-1100
New: 55-01-1170

Pete,
Nice looking truck...

Does anyone know if that part number is the same on the 5.5" kit as on the 4". I am going to order a 5.5" soon and want to make sure that I have all of the lastest parts so that I only have to instal everything once.

Thanks,

Michael

Yes, that part number will be the same for the 5.5" lift.
