Help! My electronic shift 4 wheel drive stop working recently on my 1993 Explorer. I push the button on the dash but nothing happens. I have checked the fuse under the hood and dash and both are OK. I have narrowed it down to the Electronic shift module located in the back by the jack storage. The dealer wants $276.00 for a new circuit board. I have not been able to find a used board at the salvage yards. My question is, can I replace individual relays on the board or do I need to eat the cost of a new board from the dealer? Also, I replaced the universal joints on the front drive shaft recently. However, I was not able to replace the universal joint on the passenger side between the differential and the axle slip joint about midway on the axle. The axle has a c-clip on the end holding it into the front differential. I can not get into the differential without removing it from the vehicle. Has anyone replaced this universal joint while the axle was still on the vehicle? If so, how in the heck did you do it? Thanks.
