It’s “true travel” that everyone needs to stay the hell away from

And I will never buy another Cloyes product in my life (2ea 5.0 engine destroyed both had Cloyes timing gear, both Cloyes cam gear sprocket broken)

@410Fortune Was that the single roller Cloyes? When I saw it, I didn't like the "open" dowel pin spot that is open all the way to
the center of the cam shaft end. We have been using Melling brand double rollers.
This Melling gear has a closed hole for the dowel pin.

Maybe the Cloyes isn't made of very good metal either?

Yep exact gear
I would have been better off leaving the stock 104k part in there

In My sport trac I had a Jasper 306 with 18k on it I had been saving for myself for 10 years. I changed to that stupid Cloyes gear

They Both broke at the dowl spot

Now the 104k engine and my Jasper 306 are both in the “Builder” side of storage

And from my 18 thousand mile 306
Lasted 15 miles before the cam walked and took out lifters,upon tear down I found this

The bad news? Sport trac now running a different engine, but my dumbass used another Cloyes timing set in the current engine because:
Eddies hadn’t failed yet
I blamed myself for not torquing the cam retainer Bolt… or did I?
Sport Trac still running the same pushrods too…
Runs fine!?!
However I do have a new melling timing set,
Pushrods, lifters, rocker arms,
Lifters and anther felpro gasket set ready to go when I get some time ($500
Worth of parts, plus fluids)
