4Auto to 2wd Conversion/Override?

Hey guys, I just got my explorer today. It's a '97 with Auto, 4hi, and 4lo. I'd much rather just have it stay in 2wd than automatically switch to 4wd if the tires slip. Is there any way I can override the system that does that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Oh wow, there's quite a bit of info on here about it. One question though. When the switch is off, 4wd won't engage no matter where I have the selector switch, right?

Other than knowing about the existence of the brown wire mod, I know very little about the 2nd gen control-trac system. Someone else will have to answer that question.
