- '98 XLT 4.0L SOHC
I have a 98 XLT. I have done the brown wire mod, although this issue was present long before I ever did that.....So to the problem: I can manually shift the transfer case into 4Lo if the shift motor is detached from the tcase; however, I cannot activate the 4Lo from the cabin via the 4WD Selector Switch. It goes into 4H just like normal but I switch the switch into the 4Lo position and the light just stays on 4Hi and the shift motor does not trigger.
What I have done:
1) replaced shift motor (i realize this most likely wouldn't have been the issue)
2) replaced 4wd selector switch
3) replaced relays for tcase/4wd system under the hood
4) Verified that the tcase locks the front axle properly when in 4Hi
What I have yet to do:
1) Figure out why the motor does not trigger when the switch is turned to 4Lo?
