4R55E transmission variations.

Hello, my name is rob and i am trying to find out if the differences in transmission of the 4r55e type used on explorers and areostars, 1995 models, with 4.0l engines are the same eventhough one has a coluum shift and the other a floor shift. Also the explorer has the overdrive off, on button on the coluum shift arm and the areostar has the circle d, d, n, 2, 1 shift linkage. Is the only difference the valve body? Or is there a difference in the transmission also.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmissions section. The Aerostar only used this transmission on the 1996 & 1997 models with a column shift. The 1997 model had a 5R55E with a 4.0L engine & E-4WD.
