I am working on a 4R70W transmission and it's giving me fits. I tore it apart and replaced all the seals and gaskets and then put it back together and then reinstalled it. It worked great for a few days, and now I can't get ot to go in forward or reverse when it warms up.

If anybody has any ideas or clues, I am a willing recipient.

check fluid level?
I know I know but I have to ask

How much of a difference does it make when, after reaching normal operating temp, the fluid level is slightly above the top of the hash marks?

when you say you tore it apart and replaced seals and gaskets are you talking about the valve body with the trans in the truck?

what was wrong with it before you tore into it?

It all started I lost power driving forward. Reverse was still working fine. As I tore into it I found that the forward clutch cylinder had broken (the part of it housing the clutch pack). I replaced it and the forward clutch piston (w/new seals). Then I put it back together hoping that would be the "quick" fix I needed.

After that was done, the transmission was still acting funny shifting from 1st - 2nd. So, I decided to completely tear it apart (on the bench) and replace all the seals, gaskets, o-rings, screens, check balls, etc. Now that it's all back together and installed, I can't seem to get either forward or reverse even after it's only been slightly warmed up.

I did not replace any of the accumulators or servo pistons, nor did I replace any of the springs in the valve body.

I hope this helps, and if any further info is needed I'll be happy to oblige.

Thank-you

This is an update to my previous post.

I checked the pressures on the transmission after it has sat for a few days, and I got good pressure and then I got nothing. Starting at the Line Pressure Tap, all the pressures started out in range through each of the positions (P,R,N,D,2,1). However, within 5 mins. everything went down to zero in all positions. I then moved the pressure tester to the Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) Pressure Tap, and all the pressures again read zero.

Does this help anyone? If it does, please help me. At this point I am looking for anything to help me move this thing along.
