Good morning. Just picked up 2013 Explorer Sport Friday. Nice unit.

When the display is up for power distribution for the various modes of 4wd I can't see a difference. Is there something else that needs to be switched on?

Thanks in advance, Red13Sport

Should show distribution a when power is engaged to that wheel. This is automatic ...... Otherwise it is a static display as there is no power going to that wheel at the moment.

I noticed that sand mode starts more towards the rear where normal mode starts in fwd. Pretty interesting display.

I find that in my case when pulling away from a stop at fairly normal speed the front and rear show power with the front displaying twice as much. The rear only lasts a second or so. This is in Normal mode.

snow mode shows almost the same way

Thanks Guys. Was looking at it sitting still,,it works like discribed when moving:thumbsup:

I notice the Traction Control is Off in the Mud & Rut and the Sand modes. Went to the Drive Assist / settings / traction Control but can't turn it On.

I'm I missing something ?

Sort of, I guess. Traction Control is automatically turned off in those two settings. That will allow maximum power to be sent to the wheels without the TC jumping in and limiting it. In other words, it is operating as designed.

Hi Red13Sport,

Peter has already pointed you in the right direction, but I also wanted to mention the Traction Control section of the 4th Printing of your Owner's Manual. This information begins on page 240; I also recommend the Terrain Management info on page 243. You can download a free copy of your Owner's Manual here: https://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage

Great info, Peter, thanks!

Thank you Peter.

And thanks Crystal, I think it's commendable what you / Ford are doing on these forums. Helping car people with problems close to their heart. :salute:
You must know,,car people speak with their wallets.

This is the first Ford I've owned in 23 years,,,my last DD is (I kept it) a Chevrolet Silverado SS AWD and I still enjoy that truck. Have friends with late model F150's, my son had an 06 F250 Harley Davidson edition with the IH 6.0,,,bailed on it B4 well, you know.

Decided to try Ford's new technology, the Ecoboost.
BTW, I'm sure this question has been ask many times before, is the engine in the Ex Sport the same as the engine in the F150 ?

Once again thanks, Red13Sport

When you are actually in those elements (snow, mud, and etc.) then you'll see the differences in the display. Won't see much until the system is actually doing something to counter-measure.

You are correct. The engine is the same but it is tuned a little differently in the F150 for obvious reasons.

Can't see the hill as clearly here, but can definitely see a change with the 4x4 on in the display out in the forest. Pretty cool!

Much as I love the Ex, I have to admit, the 4Runner Trail eats the dirt up and then begs for more! These two make a great pair!
