4wd hi/low flashes 6 times

Well I have had a good 1.5 years now with my wifes 4.0 98 Explorer, just some routine stuff I've wrenched myself. Kinda stumped now. She has an automatic tranny and I've changed fluid and filter when we bought it and have had no problems. Now the 4 hi/low lights flash 6 times and I can't find any info on the possible causes. Hoping someone here can shed some light on my lights. The Explorer still runs and shifts fine, I have yet to drive it but have seen the flashes at start up.

Without knowing the GEM/CTM trouble code that's been stored in teh system, it's a guessing game as to where the problem lies. Could be a chafed wire, bad speed sensor, or other electrical gremlins. Without the DTC, there's no way to know for sure.
