4WD Low range not engaging

I have a 1991 Mazda Navajo that I am having a problem with the low range not engaging. I have performed all of the function tests (at the electronic module end [rear of vehicle]) as per the ford manual and still cannot find the problem. I than brought it to a local mechanic shop - Switch and motor changeout (Both were returned). I was over at the shop yesterday, and with the motor off of the transfer case we activated it twice into 4WDH (no problem) and now, it won't switch to back to 2WD while it is off. Can anyone give me some suggestions. First about the 4WDL and than not switching back to 2WD.

the engine should be running or at least the switch in the acc mode for 4wd to engage..... 4wd lo range will not engage unless the vehicle is in park/nuetral, your on the brake(cant be in motion), and you push the button

what button i dont have a button i have the lever do i have a button

some explorers had an electronic shift for 4 wheel drive that was controlled with a button on the dash...... the manual t case had a lever

ohh ok a i also have a 4x4 problem when i lock it up in 4x4 one of my fronts dont lock up that almost cause me to sink in the mud when it lock i got out what could be causing that

If you still have auto hubs, it could be because it's shot. You might think about switching to manual's...

me and my dad are going to look at the hub one day over the rainbow(he workes in austin with a 12 hours shift so its hard to do things with him) well let you know or if you find out anything pm me plz ohh do you know anything on the devils den thing i want to go but ride with somebody
