4x4 control module where to buy for a canadian

Hey im just curious to know if anyone from Canada has bought a control module for the 4x4.

how much did you pay?
and where did you get it from>

Im so confused with the price fluctuations and so on.

mines done and I plan to purchase one by the end of the week.

Hello . I had gone to the local ford dealership and was quoted over $475 for it plus an hour to 'program it'. Ended up buying it from a Ford dealership in Las Vegas. I think it's now called silverstate ford.

Cost was @ $150 or so ( 3 years ago)and shipping was very reasonable.

I think guys on this forum still buy from them.

Disconnected the battery. Installation took about 10 minutes tops and reconnected the battery. All good.

I would be leery of buying online. There are several different part #'s. For different models with different options and updated part #'s. There should only be two parts #'s that work with any explorer. The old and the updated. I tried a CM with a different # and it made my car freak out. It turned the dash on, the radio, etc... With the key in my hand!

Buy from Ford and get the 100% correct part.

Yes. I agree with Joe in NY. That's why when I went through the ford dealership in LV I needed to supply them with the complete vin so they could get me exactly what I needed.

Rock Auto might be okay. But with ford and their 'built before' and 'built after' certain dates I would want to get it right the first time.

Plus...most vendors will not allow you to return an electrical component.
