I've never owned a 4x4 until now. Just had some basic questions. Im swapping the auto lock for warn manual hubs and the shiftster for manual shifting of the transfer case.

1. Is this the correct way to engage 4x4:put the truck in neutral with the ebrake on. lock the hubs up front then shift the shiftster to high or low 4x4, then shift to drive and take off?
2. To disengage do the same process backwards?
3. What is the process if you want to go from 4high to 4low.
thanks

It doesn't matter if your lock the hubs first or last, other than that, you are correct!
4hi to 4lo also needs vehicle in neutral, then shift into lo.

You do not need to use the parking brake. You can engage lock the hubs IF you think you are going to need them. (like off road, bad snow....) Then when you do need them engage the transfer case at ANY speed as long as the rear tires are not spinning like on ice and you spin a tire. This is for hi range.
If you want to use low range, use the process you listed but you still do not need to use the parking brake.
