The hubs on my 94 ford explorer don't engage. It's all automatic. Any reason for this? Been told something about a piece missing. What parts are supposed to be there? (Diagram or pics would work)

How much would it take/cost to switch to manual hubs?

4x4 Troubleshooting guide

This thread is super helpful and there are others too.
There is a “useful thread” section for 1st gens and it contains a wealth of information. It is above the reg posts in this forum (stock 91-94 explorers) click on that and happy reading!

Thanks, didn't see that before!

The auto hubs wear out, they don't last forever. Manual hubs should be under $200 or so.

What in them wear out? Is said worn part replaceable?

you'd be better off just swapping to mannual hubs, order a conversion kit, and get some hubs from the junk yard or you could order some.

I am curious about this also
But if mine are junk I am going manual
For the money, I can get out of the truck and lock the hubs. Plus no more looking for a place to back up and disengage
