I've notice the 4x4 light flashing lately when I drive.
I can't seem to get to 4x4 high mode.
4x4 low engages fine.

I can't tell if I'm in auto mode or not.
Does anyone have any ideas, winter is on the way. My 275's wont do so well without 4x4.

I've done a bunch of searches but everyone seemed to have trouble getting into 4x4 low. My prob seems to be the opposite.:(

You will need to check the codes for the 4x4 module.

When I was having this issue, I replaced the 4x4 Module only to find out it was a bad ground on the shift motor located on the transfer case. Worth a look.

It happened right after taking the x in for an alignment. I always wonder when stuff suddenly stops working after having it in for some work. I'll have to check the codes if it ever stops raining. Thanks for the tips

Colin

Bump for an update. :dunno:

update

\i basically ignored the problem all winter. :) got really busy

so far I have checked all fuses and relays
both hi and low dash lights bulb test fine when you turn the key
I can switch to 4x4 low when in neutral. 4x4 low light comes on but i don't hear it engage. \i beleive its already stuck in 4x4
I can switch from 4x4 low to high or auto but neither high or auto lights up
4x4 low does shut off
I've tried driving it in 4x4 low and its definitely in low
same with high it get my normal gearing back
\i have pulled the module...it looks fine no corrossion on the plugs or the connections in any way...since the dash lights seem to be working fine, ive ruled it out.

That leaves 4x4 motor, either bad or bad ground etc\
Or the case itself, which is entirely possible since I drove the truck with a different size spare for quite a while....\i'm ebarrassed to say I really didnt know what the clunking was under heavy accel///obviously it was the transfer case trying to tell me to stop being a dumbass and change the tire..

\i will try and find the motor over the next couple of days and check the wiring etc...hopefully thats all it is.
