the torque monster website is no longer saying the company is for sale, so you may be able to get some still. Other than those your only option is custom headers. There were some crappy ford racing headers, but they are no longer made and weren't worth the steel that they were made with. You might get luck and find some used torque monster headers but the chances of that are slim and none. I'm not sure what the number of sets made is but I would guess it's still under 2000 total sets.

Torque monster business is still for sale but the headers ARE available from them!

I'm waiting for permission from Rob to post his return e-mail to me about this.

Order now!

LOL, waiting for Bob to return an email can be akin to watching paint dry or grass grow. He`s a great guy with a LONG history with this site and a lot of its members (including me). He`s a phone guy and told me often he doesn`t check email often and even when he does, he doesn`t always get to replying quickly.

Just post up the email. Bob won`t be fussed about it and would like the PR.

Nice to see that TMH are still available.

Thats what I've read but Bob got back too me in less than 24hrs.

I'll post tomorrow as the e-mail is on my work computer.

SAWEET!!! I might just have to make some adjustments in my finances to get a set of those sooner than I planned before they are ALL GONE... My lift and/or bodywork and/or sound might have to wait... :D

The response from Torque monster, two days ago.

"Mike,

Thank you for your concern. No, Torque Monster Headers is NOT out of business. Yes, I have put the business up for sale, but have not moved to close down shop.

I'm actually waiting for a run of headers coming out of my manufacturer. He mentioned there will be a 4-6 week time frame.

Once again, thank you.

Robert"

Cool news.

So to bring this back to exhaust... I am thinking that for the tone that I want without attracting too much attention from those who protect and serve, while maintaining adequate backpressure, I think I am going to go with a dual in, single out 50 series Flowmaster. I will be getting the necessary piping and mufffler this week, and hopefully doing the install sometime next week. Will post pics and sound clips when I am done.

I realize I don't have a v8 in mine nor a 2nd gen to boot. I was surfing the v8 side of things, because I hope to own one someday.

I was shocked to see how much the headers cost... $789? Is the gain really worth the investment? Then on top of that I'm assuming this is the only company that makes aftermarket headers for the v8's. Am I correct?

I was pleased to see the number of links posted of exhaust sound clips.

I bought my '99 5+ years ago with only 32,000 miles on it. I'm only up to 80,000 miles. I feed it a steady diet of synthetic fluids. I plan to keep the truck for a long time. The headers were by far the most noticeable mod made to my truck (installed 2 years ago, almost to the day). TMH are well worth it to me.

You can score headers from Ford Racing, but they're not much better than stock. TMH are the only "real" header option for the 5.0. A lot of forum members own them and are pleased.

Tmh

Will a old headers with no egr fit the a 2000 if i weld in for the EGR, I no it ben ask allready just cant find it THANKS !!!:salute:

I have pair of glasspacks from cherry bomb dual inlet dual outlet n the secondary cats removed. I think it's an awesome setup sounds different from the other guys which is good n I still feel good torque but I will try the dual inlet single outlet to c if I do gain more torque plus I want to get some headers are there any other companies that makes off the shelf headers for 99 explorer XLT 5.0L?

I wonder if anyone has put on a Mac pro chamber with the Mac mufflers, I've always liked how Mac sounds on the 5.0's, I currently have flow masters but they drone way too much now that I have a bigger 347 motor & torque monster headers, I don't like the drone or magna flows

You should open up the exhaust, a lot. There is plenty of room from the cats back. Open that all up to 3" piping to at least the rearend, with two mufflers. Install two tail pipes, first spend some time on the left side to move the obstacles out of the way(brake line, charcoal canister lines, rearend vent hose).

Give the exhaust somewhere to go that isn't restricted, and the sound should mellow out more.

I think that I have pretty good, I've got tms headers full exhaust redone from the headers to the back, 3 inch from the headers to a x pipe, 2- 1 chamber flow masters and dual 2.5 inch to the back

This setup works great on my mustang cobras but I don't like the drone on the 5.0

There you go, that's very good. Well done, :salute:

It gets old dealing with people that have one muffler and tail pipe, which are less than half of the flow of a typical 302 Mustang.

The loudness and drone are most affected by the muffler choice and how many restrictive parts are in the system to reduce the chance of it.

If you get it all done as you want it, happy with the muffler, and it still has drone, you have two choices. Change the muffler(s) or add some of the restrictive parts back, or else try the odd devices people have tossed out as ideas.

The Corral had the most detailed thread about adding new piping which is just for sound deadening. I don't know if they really are effective, but I read enough about it to understand the idea. People have added dead end pipe lengths to the exhaust behind the mufflers, connected as a branch(90 degrees etc) off the tail pipe area. I gathered that the best sizing is less than the existing pipe, say 75% of the area. Connect those behind the muffler about 1-2 feet, and make them about two feet long. Some members there appear very satisfied with their results. Those were all Mustangs, so they had big issues with space to put them. The Explorer has more room around the rearend, but it's still tight around those parts surrounding it.

Hunt for that thread on the Corral forum, it's about the "drone." Good luck,

Awesome thread! Exactly what I'm looking for! My left bank converter is blown and I'm looking to take advantage of the situation(wife doesn't know, lol) to replace the entire system from the manifolds back with a dual exhaust system. No worries about My state's E-Check as I am going to put "Truck Plates" on it to avoid inspection.

Quick question....My '96 EB 5.0 looks to have only one converter per exhaust manifold going into a dual inlet/single outlet muffler. This sound factory?Or could it have been modded?

All 302/351's had four cats from the 80's when they first put four on one. It may be that all V8's have had four since then too. The V6's seemed to all have just two cats.
