Im going to be running two pypes violator mufflers delete the two rear cats and have true dual up and over the rear axle then dumped behind the rear tires on each side.

Just installed Torque Monster Headers on my 2000 MM and removed rear cats and onpen up air box. started her up ran great let it warm up and retorqe headers. I did a good job with the Pug wires. Misses under load and now was CODE PO300. IS it to lean or somthinking with the EGR TUBE . when cold nuns great for 1 mile then it will start to miss

Code P0300 is random multiple cylinder misfire. I would say you burned through a couple spark plug wires.

I say this because it happened to me when I installed headers on my old chevy truck (97 w/ vortec 350). Got the same code. I installed some taylor race wires to handle the heat, and problem solved.

I highly doubt an EGR tube would cause this much grief.... I am almost certain you buy some better insulated wires (as I've never heard of Pug wires, but I also don't own a 5.0 x) your prob will be solved.

Whats the best muffler for the 5.0 v8 that will give me a deep rumble sound?

I think a flowmaster 40 is LOAD 50 sounds goods light drone 70 a little loader then stock but flows better. u sould do a search and see what every else thinks I stuck, i like 50 but like it quite mite go with a 70

Check out my post on Ceramic Spark Plug Wire with TMH

The best place to check is you tube and listen to hours of sound clips.... then pick the one you like best.

This has been hashed out many times, and everyone has their own opinion of what sounds good and what sucks to them.

I just got my High Flow cats from Mandrel Bending Solution's Ebay store tonight. I'm gonna have a muffler shop custom fit these in the next week or 2. 100 cell converters.

Just a quick update. I have found a small muffler shop this morning that WILL install these on my truck. The owner seemed slightly intimidated by the tight exhaust at first. But after examining it, seems like he can make it work. Having the rear cats gone helps. He said he may not be able to expand the piping up to 2.5'' all the way to the collector flange especially on the passenger bank since there's hardly any room to weld around there. But he seems confident he can raise the exhaust up a little bit and remove those lousy heat shields(Which are rattling BTW) and just freshen up the exhaust. Main thing being is to get these Super Hi-Flow cats on which he will. I am gonna drop the truck off in the morning.I'll definitely take some pics and record some footage when completed.

If he is willing, he can use these

tack it all in place, and then drop it down to weld it all up. He will need to make downtubes, then rear sections to make this work. Keep in mind, the passenger side upstream 02 sensor is in the cat , so he will need to cut a hole in the cat exit tube, and weld in a bung. Take a look how close it is to the stock cat, it needs to be the same distance.

I may stand corrected but this is how I understand it;
in the tuning this space is accounted for somehow. ?????

I'm not sure if that matters or not although he noticed that as well. Wouldn't a modify in the tune be able to correct any differences in the o2 sensor position. He did mention dropping the exhaust and tacting everything together then welding it back up.And about that ball flange. I wish I would have seen that sooner since he wants me to bring it down tomorrow morning. I guess I could always have it installed at a later time?

Ok, I'll try to get out later and see what I can find. What size are the 5.0's flanges?

IMAG0231.jpg

That's the only pic I have of them right now. I'll try to make a video over the next week when I get more time. I'd say he did a good job considering the room he had to work with. He even kept the o2 sensors in their same general locations. Because of that ,no CEL at all. No weird burps from the engine or nothing. I still reset the battery just to see if there would be any kind of change in the performance. It's really hard to say from the seat o pants meter. In a way it FEELS like it revs just slightly quicker and maybe a little bit of power gain. I'll report any MPG gains once I stop putting into it.:D I dunno I may try to see if James can fine tune my custom tunes a little more to possibly squeeze a little more out. I'll have to see what he recommends. Also the sound level barely went up from before. It may just be a smidge louder under load. But it does have a little bit of a deeper sound though.

sounds a lot meaner tekman and bad ass
