Not a whole heck of a lot. Single chamber, I got these on my '05 Mustang GT and love the tone of them. My hand spans the length of the chamber Of course these obviously aren't recommended for the faint of heart when it comes to noise levels. Really interior wise it's not that bad until you get the highway drone which I block out with radio. But I prefer chambered sounding exhaust over say no tone loud raspy exhaust like Cherrybomb/Glasspacks or SLP. But if loud exhaust doesn't bother you or your neighbors this is the way to go. Pretty dang affordable too considering how much other exhaust setups cost.

To give you an idea of how they sound

That is not as loud as I would have guessed based on the muffler size. It's a little louder than I want, but I've heard lots of cars that are way louder than that.

You might try a sound attenuator pipe to add also. There's a thread on the Corral where people have for years experimented with suppressing the drone of their cars, and it's several years old with lots of great examples.

The general method that seems to work best is to add a pipe of about 26" to 30" long, anywhere into the exhaust, preferably before mufflers and after the cats. It's a dead pipe, the end is capped/welded shut, it can be any shape basically, and you simply connect it at any angle to the main pipes. I plan to try them with my cars when I actually get an exhaust system done, some day.

The drone is the one negative of most aftermarket mufflers. OEM mufflers often have a dead chamber inside of them, a volume where sound resonances go into and cancel out sounds when they come out of that chamber. Which means that OEM mufflers actually are very small in volume when you don't count that resonance chamber. So it's amazing that they are as quiet as they are.

Well here it is folks. It is loud but not as horrifically droning as my phone's little microphone makes it seem. Haven't been on the Highway yet but on the streets the actual drone level hasn't changed just the bass of the exhaust pulse which I personally can live with. Enjoy, I'll try to get some exterior drive by's when I get the time

Is anyone besides Gibson still making a cat back for the 5.0s?? Mine is a 98...I've seen a flowmaster kit for 00 model year but that's about it.

I am thinking of doing something similar to this!! I have pretty much the stock system right now except the new 9" vortec muffler and they took out my resonator haha But I am looking at getting 1 more 9" vortec true dual my exhaust, manifolds back, cat delete, and new manifolds and my baby should be puuring here is what mine sounds like now just parked... Dont mind my unmatching tailights I havent boughten new housings yet since I bought it this way

I finished mine now and did a full cat delete with a cherrybomb extreme muffler dual 2.5 in and out, ran out the bac with 12" x 3" tips. It sounds mean when on it and not to loud at idle or light driving.

Do you have any video of it? Would love to hear your setup

Quick one of it warming up I'll get a rev one in a bit.

2000 5.0 with Flomaster Force 2 catback. The rest of the exhaust is stock.
No revs, I couldn't record and rev since I couldn't place the camera on the ground since it was wet from the snow on the FIRST DAY OF SPRING IN NEW ENGLAND.... I hate new england... :/

So I have been playing with the Exhaust with my truck for a bit, Turns out that the Dynomax isn't really that great, unless you want a little rumble, and I mean very small amount of rumble. I was actually a little upset with it, regardless, I still wanted a basic bolt on setup for my truck. After hearing my truck with no muffler when I did the swap, I decided to do that, so a little bit of pipe, and an hour later, I have straight pipes, minus the Cats, because I need those. It dumps right before the rear axle, and sounds like an old muscle car, I LOVE it!!! It really isn't that loud, and is not annoying even at highway speed. I am really happy that way it turned out, even if it is not the most perfect setup.

I just ordered a mac 3" cat back for my 2000 ex 5.0. I still have stock headers but I'm hoping it sounds good

Accarguy, did you order the MAC from Henson?

I am also curious about this.

It seems most of the in the box catbacks are few and far between anymore.

I think MAC and gibson are the only ones left.

I just picked up a 99 XLT 5.0 and was wondering if anyone had any comments on the catbacks that can still be purchased these days.

Thanks in advance

I got my exhaust right from mac. And it does sound pretty good. Has a nice rumble at idle and nice sound when accelerating. It does have more sound to it at lower rpm versus high rpm. But overall it sounds good not too loud but loud enough.

Hey whats the part number for the magnaflowr dual 2.5 in single 3 out NON stainless muffler. i can only find them in stainless.

Did you notice any other gains ie mileage or seat of the pants? Or does it just sound better?

Was it a straight forward install.

Im trying to decide between the MAC or Gibson. Does the tip still come out the same location as the stock one?

Anyone know if there is one that comes out behind the rear tire instead of out the bumper area?

Maybe very little on the millage and hp because it makes it breathe really nicely.
Install was very straight forward bolted right up to the rear cats.
My tip comes out the exact same spot, but on their website the have other options like out the side.
