I am looking to replace my oil pan gasket and I know that you have to drop the crossmember and support the engine. But what would be the best and less frustrating way to get this done. Bc I don't wanna pull my motor. And I heard you could raise it just enough and do it but who knows. I just don't wanna have to deal with shop labor prices and I work in one for crying out loud. Would tightening up the bolts help.

do you have a 4L or 5L? if you have a 4L you dont have to move the motor, if you have a 5L the motor has to be lifted.

For all leaks, clean the area first and keep looking for more leak sources. Try to tighten the pan bolts some, not too much but make them tight. That is about the only thing to help the pan leak, and you don't want to attempt to remove the pan while in the vehicle.

Usually the bigger leaks are not the pan, but main seals, oil pressure sensor, or the oil filter adapters.
