You found them. At Ford. Well worth it for the problems a used one can create IMO. A corroded bolt will stretch before it reaches clamping torque, which will cause it to snap off under tension during heat cycles.

LOL these things are ridiculous...
ok can u tell me how many i need of both???

You might get in touch with ped5stang, last I saw he had a jig to assemble bolt sets.

For the water pump and timing cover, there are several different sizes.

I believe 3 of the water pump bolts are "studs" to allow the harnesses to be hung out of the way of the belt and pulleys. If you get creative with zip ties, you might be able to use long bolts without the stud end.

if thats the case and the studs arent really needed.... could i just use a mustang kit from arp??? and if so, would a 95 mustang kit work???

I really think the water pump and timing cover are Explorer unique. You might find shoulder bolts off the shelf which will work.

ok so ill get 4 studs = $80, how many bolts do i need? (im at work so i cant go look until monday :( )

contacting ped5stang now

hey Turdle, thank you, ped5stang is sending me a set now, even if they are messed up at least i will have the right bolts/studs to match with new ones:dunno:

does anyone have a picture or guide for what bolts go where??? i got the bolts, im gonna hit them with the wire brush on the bench grinder, and i guess ill mock it wup without the gasket and see if i can figure it out, but if theres a guide or if someone has a pic id love to see that, goal is to have the long block in the truck by saturday

Sorry for replying to this old post. But i'm in the same position. I have several of these bolts and studs broken and need a replacement asap. I heard the ARP mustang kit works, but hesitant to spend $60 on it to find out that i can't use it.

Having a hard time locating studs and step studs to replace the old ones. Anyone with any idea or help, I would definitely appreciate it.

You will need to dig deep, and hit up a ford dealership.

I've called several around my area. None of which have them. Been to several shops that offer automotive bolts and studs, but i've had no luck with any of them.

I'm basically all out of ideas.....
