5r55e rebuild - first fluid change?

After experiencing too many issues to discuss, I had my 5r55e on my '98 SOHC XLT 4x completely rebuilt by a reputable shop here in town. Got 192k out of the original - not bad. Shifts like she was new. Very happy. The shop that did it said first fluid change after the rebuild should be in 1 year or 12k, miles whichever comes first. That sounds reasonable to me but I have also heard to just go on the regular interval (30k miles), others say within 5k miles. What's the collective wisdom here think?

No one? Well, OK. I think for the first change I'll go with the 12,000 mile interval. Then 30k from then on.
