There is a special tool made by Rotunda that the dealerships use. A lot of high end new scanners are capable of doing it too. Get prices from the dealer, and the local transmission shops. Another thing that you could do is either get a new valve body with everything on it already tested or just buy new parts. Check WWW.800700Tran.Com.

OMG.....they sell 6 solenoids and a valve body cheaper than the Ford dealership will sell one shift solenoid.
All I have to do is bolt it in? That's more doable for me.
Contemplating the valve body rebuild was a bit intimidating for my confidence level. Images of open transmissions scare me a little.
