I have a 2001 Explorer 4dr 4x4 4.0L SOHC Vin E that has the 5R55E Transmission in it
and my question is, Can i replace it with a 2008 Ford Ranger 4x4 tranny that is a
5R55E.
If anybody knows the answer or can direct me in the right direction so i can find the answer to this question it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What is different about the newer tranny?

If the tranny is a 5R55E, how different could the electronics work? What is the valvebody was changed to the older tranny? Would the newer tranny work then in an older vehicle?

that wont work, the electronics are entirely different

That only applies to the Explorer...

as far as i know the 5r55e ended at the 01 model year, anything newer than that should be 5r55s or 5r55w

Even the Sport Trac uses the 5R55E past 2001... And the Ranger used that same model tranny up through the 2009 MY...

thank you for the correction, but i would still look into the wiring, as hollander says i cant use an 01 trans in my 97 because of the wiring, so it may have changed from 01 to 08 as well.
