5r55e valve body replacement help.

So my explorer is throwing code p1717 which is a solenoid. Im thinking if its not the solenoid i ordered im just going to replace th valve body. I did read the diary not all of it but most of it.

I was wondering how hard it would be to just replace the whole VB, due to it having 160k on it and the VB are pretty cheap with all solenoids in working order. I would not be pulling the trannie out but rather be doing it from below. Thanks for all the help any specials tools i would need?

Which vehicle is this for? Your profile says 1994. The A4LD was in the 94 model. As for the solenoid, did you check the solenoid through the connector on the wiring harness? Sometimes the solenoid could be good, but the connection on the wiring harness could have a problem.

Its not a bad job at all, just messy. I just recently replaced the valve body on my 4r55e. A good socket set, tons of rags, brake cleaner, new atf, filter and gasket, a good inch pound torque wrench, and atsg book.. I dropped my VB at night so the trans could slowly drain all night and the next day i put the new VB in. I bought my VB from central valve bodies. Great product, fast shipping, great deal of care with how it was packaged and awesome customer service! i actually called them when i was under the truck doing the job and donny walked me threw the process that i was confused about. great guy, give them a call, prices are not bad at all
