5r55s 2003 explorer year interchange

Hey all
I have a 2003 explorer with 5r55 transmission I need to replace. I found that same transmission only it’s a 2007, will I be able Interchange between that 2? Can I install a 2007 tranny in a 2003 explorer? Please help!

First, your 2003 has either a 5R55W or 5R55S transmission; you failed to indicate which. They are not identical, due to gear ratios.

Second, there are bound to be subtle differences in the 2007, as well as the question of whether your 2003 is the "W" variety. The 2007 can no doubt be gotten to work, but not without some serious "tweaking": Use 2003 Transmission Range Switch, for example. Do NOT use 2007 torque converter. You will be risking working with a "pig in a poke"; good luck. Let us know if you proceed.
