Hey there fellows,

I just drained my tranny but left the transfer case on (through the whole band replacement procedure).

I pumped 7.5 quarts in the side bolt of the tranny cold and then drove around the block a couple of times and when I came back I checked the little torx bolt on the tranny (running) and it was steadily dripping out.

Im I done ?? I thought this trans held 12 quarts or is that with the cooler etc. I assume there was still some fluid left in my transfercase that I never removed (?)

Also, Do I have to reset the computer cuz my OD light is still flashing :( but its shifting OK and one of the bands was broken. I had the battery off for 2 months ??

Any help is appreciated.

The trans and transfer case are separate units, fluid does not run between them, there is a seal that keeps them separate.
I assume you removed the trans to replace the band? If you didn't drain the converter, it holds several qts.
With the battery disconnected that long the computer should have reset and cleared all codes. The flashing OD light means that a new code is stored and you should get it read.

Right on thanks for the info, Not really what I wanted to hear but Im not here for warm hugs either :D

You are right, the tq still had fluid in it.

I think today Ill overfill it a couple of quarts and let it drain any access while running.

Any other advise is always appreciated.
