Correction kit

http://www.transgo.com/products.php?category_id=74&parent_id=30&product_id=124

I have never been happy with how my explorer shifts. Now that I am getting my transmission rebuilt they will put in a shift kit as part of the rebuild if I provide it. Does anyone have any recomendations between the shift corrector at 110.00 verses the recalibrator at 185?

Ive never had a shift kit on a electronic controled trans so I have no personal experience. Its a daily driver that I occasionally tow with. I am looking for snappier shifts and a reduction in downshift lag.

Correction.

called trans go they recommended the shift correction kit. they said the re-programmer was for supercharged mustangs and the like.

The "quality" of the shifting sensation in these transmissions is well-thought out in advance by the manufacturers. Their need is to ensure that ALL of them produced make it through the warranty period.

Thus, minimum throttle shifts are preprogrammed to allow minimum stress on parts; the less times you hit something hard with a hammer, the longer it takes for it to break.

So, generally, shifts feel more or less "sloppy". Trade that in for a neck-jerk on every shift, and watch the G,D.n'd transmission go away much sooner. Your choice. Without dicking around with them, these transmissions routinely exceed warranty expectations easily, with long life spans. Throw that fact away, if you must. imp
