5R55W trans oil change

Hello,
I want to change the oil and filter on my 5R55W trans. I think I've got the procedure down. What I'm wondering is about the requirement for checking level at operating temp. I don't have a scan tool or an infrared temp thermometer gun. What if I just take it for a drive to get the trans up to temp? Will that be good enough? 10 minutes should do it, right?

a common video linked in the tranny section says 5-10 minutes idle gets you between the temp you need (but use a scantool/temp gauge if you can.)

I agree, before I got my scanner, I just ran mine for 10 minutes. After I got my scanner and did the procedure again, around 10 minutes was bang on.

What about a temp gauge with the sensor installed in the pan? That way I get a read out in the cabin that I can check. ****ty idea?
